기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론을 적용한 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용의도 예측: 성별에 따른 조절효과

Abstract

목적

본 연구는 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론 통합모형을 적용하여 스포츠 소비자의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용의도를 예측하는데 그 목적이 있다.

방법

연구수행을 위해 설문지를 측정도구로 사용하였으며, 인구통계학적특성을 포함하여 총 27개의 문항으로 구성하였다. 연구대상은 스포츠 제품 구매 경험이 있는 20~50대 이상으로 설정하였으며, 비확률 표본추출법 중 편의표본추출법을 이용하였다. 총 360부의 설문지를 배포하였으며, 이중 불성실하게 응답한 3부의 설문지를 제외한 357부의 설문지가 본 연구에 사용되었다. 자료처리를 위해 SPSS 20.0과 AMOS 20.0 프로그램을 이용하여 빈도분석, 신뢰도분석, 상관관계분석, 확인적 요인분석, 구조방정식 모형분석을 실시하였다.

결과

첫째, 지각된 사용용이성은 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 지각된 유용성은 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 태도는 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 주관적 규범은 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 지각된 행동통제는 수용의도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 여섯째, 성별에 따라 태도와 수용의도, 주관적 규범과 수용의도의 경로에서 차이가 나타나는 것으로 분석되었다.

결론

본 연구의 결과는 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용의도 예측을 통해 국내 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 관련 기업의 시장정착에 있어 마케팅 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Trans Abstract

Purpose

The current study was aimed to examine acceptance intention of sports wearable smart device using the Technology Acceptance Model and Theory of Planned Behavior.

Methods

Data were drawn from 357 consumers who had experience purchasing sports products. Data were analyzed through frequency analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 program.

Results

First, perceived ease of use had a positive effect on attitude. Second, perceived usefulness had a positive effect on attitude. Third, attitude had a positive effect on acceptance intention. Fourth, subjective norm had a positive effect on acceptance intention. Fifth, perceived behavioral control did not affect acceptance intention. Sixth, differences of path coefficients between attitude and acceptance intention, subjective norm and acceptance intention were significant according to gender.

Conclusion

The significance of this research is to provide the basis of positioning strategy for domestic companies of sports wearable smart device.

서론

연구의 필요성 및 목적

전 세계 산업분야의 가장 뜨거운 이슈는 4차 산업혁명(4th Industrial Revolution)일 것이다. 2016년 1월 세계경제포럼(World Economic Forum)에서 4차 산업혁명이 주요 의제로 채택되어 논의가 이루어진 후 한 해 동안 전 세계적으로 큰 화두가 되고 있다(Chae et al., 2017). 3차 산업혁명이 컴퓨터와 인터넷으로 이루어지는 ‘자동화’를 이끌었다면, 4차 산업혁명은 정보통신기술(information communication technology: ICT)을 기반으로 ‘지능화’된 사회로의 진화라 할 수 있다(Cho, 2016). 무엇보다 인공지능, 사물인터넷, 빅데이터, 모바일 등 첨단 ICT 기술이 다양한 분야와 융합을 통한 혁신적 기술의 진보는 4차 산업혁명의 시대를 가속화 할 것이 자명하다. 4차 산업혁명의 대표적인 키워드는 융합(convergence)이라 할 수 있다. 상호 이질적인 유·무형의 대상이 결합하여 새로운 부가가치를 창출하는 일련의 과정을 의미하는 융합은 산업분야에서 새로운 가치를 창출할 수 있는 성장 동력으로 주목받고 있으며, 우리나라 정부에서도 핵심 육성 산업으로 지목하고 있다(Choi, 2015).

이러한 산업시장의 흐름은 스포츠 분야에서도 예외는 아니다. 스포츠 산업백서에 따르면, 건강에 관한 관심이 증대되고 있는 상황에서 IT기술의 융합 형태인 U-Health와 웰니스(wellness)분야의 시장규모가 높은 성장률을 보인다고 하였다. 무엇보다 의료분야를 포함한 모바일 헬스 산업의 시장은 2015년 기준 약 16조 5,575억 원 규모로 추정되며, 2020년 약 67조 1,437억 원 규모로 성장할 것으로 전망하였다(Ministry Culture, Sports and Tourism, 2015). 또한 한국산업기술평가원에서 발간한 보고서에 따르면, 웨어러블 스마트기기의 세계시장은 모든 분야에서 2012년까지 높은 성장을 기대하고 있으며, 특히 스포츠와 피트니스 분야에서 주목할 만한 성장이 기대됨을 전망하였다(Han et al., 2016).

이미 글로벌 스포츠 브랜드 기업들은 치열한 경쟁상황에서 선두기업으로 자리매김하기 위해 ICT 기술융합 제품 개발 및 출시를 활발하게 진행해가고 있다. 예컨대 나이키, 아디다스, 퓨마 등은 자체 연구개발센터 운영을 통해 매출액의 1% 이상을 연구개발비로 투자하고 있으며(Ministry Culture, Sports and Tourism, 2015), 언더아머는 전 세계적으로 1억 2500만 명이 사용하는 애플리케이션인 ‘언더아머 레코드’, ‘마이피트니스팔’, ‘맵마이런’, ‘엔도몬도’를 활용하여 웨어러블 시장에 등장하였다(Chun et al., 2016; Park, 2017). 한편, 우리나라 정부에서도 스포츠와 ICT 기술의 융합 콘텐츠 및 고부가가치 스포츠용품 개발 등 융·복합 산업을 적극 육성하겠다는 목표를 발표하였다. 또한 2015년 대구광역시를 지역 융·복합 스포츠산업 거점으로 지정하고 섬유패션, ICT, 의료기기 등과 스포츠를 융합한 신제품 개발과 일자리를 창출하겠다는 목표 하에 추진되고 있다(Kim et al., 2015).

이처럼 스포츠와 ICT 기술의 융합은 다양한 형태로 나타나고 있지만, 이 중 스포츠 용품과 건강, 피트니스 앱(Apps)의 융합이 두드러진다. 대표적으로는 웨어러블 스마트기기(wearable smart device)를 들 수 있다. 웨어러블 스마트기기란 단어 그대로 착용하는 옷처럼 입는 전자기기이다(Nasir & Yurder, 2015). 하지만 단순히 전자기기를 몸에 지니는 것이 아니라 사용자가 편하도록 신체에 가장 근접한 위치에서 사용자와 커뮤니케이션을 할 수 있는 기기를 의미한다(Gao et al., 2016). 무엇보다 웨어러블 스마트기기는 스마트폰 혹은 PDA를 통해 운동 중 나타나는 건강정보 및 기술수준 등을 파악하여 이용자에게 관련 정보를 제공하게 되며, 전송된 정보를 통해 자신의 변화를 분석할 수 있는 기능을 제공하는 것이 특징이다(Nasir & Yurder, 2015).

한편, Wood & Moreau(2006)는 스포츠 관련 기업들은 점점 다양화되는 소비자들의 욕구를 충족시키기 위해 경쟁업체들과 차별화된 제품을 계발하는 데 힘써야 함을 제시하였다(Lee & Jeon, 2014). 이에 웨어러블 스마트기기 관련 기업들은 더 많은 시간과 비용을 적극적으로 투자하여 기술계발에 투자하고 있다. 하지만 최신기술이 접목된 제품의 경우 소비자들에게 기능적·감정적 불확실성을 줄 수 있으며(Garcia & Calantone, 2002), 소비자의 특징을 간과한 제품은 시장에서 실패를 경험 할 수 있는 위험성을 가지고 있다(Veryzer, 1998). 또한 Parasuraman(2000)은 기술제품의 경우 매우 급진적으로 발전하기 때문에 발전 속도를 따라가지 못하는 소비자들은 제품 사용을 꺼리거나 거부하는 경향을 보이기도 함을 제시하였다. 따라서 기술제품이 출시되었을 때 소비자들의 소비행동을 파악하는 것은 새롭게 등장한 시장흐름 속에서 필수적인 과정이라 판단된다.

이와 같은 기술의 급진적인 발전으로 인해 새로운 기술수용에 미치는 요인에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 보고되어지고 있다. 대표적으로 정보통신기술 분야의 연구에서 가장 활발하게 적용되어지고 있는 Davis(1989)가 제안하는 기술수용모델(Technology Acceptance Model: TAM)이 있다. 기술수용모델은 Fishbein & Ajzen(1975)의 합리적 행동이론(Theory of Reasoned Action: TRA) 모델을 기반으로 한 모델로써 기술수용모델이 처음 소개된 이후 수정보완을 거듭하여 모델도입, 모델확인, 모델확장, 모델정교화의 단계로 발전되어져 왔다(Lee et al., 2003). 무엇보다 모델확인 단계에서 다수의 연구자들을 통해 기술수용모델 변수의 측정척도에 대한 타당성이 검증되었다(You & Park, 2010). 이후 다양한 기술 분야의 수용의도에 대한 연구로 확장되어 진행되어져 왔으며, 소비자들의 정보기술수용과 수용의도를 설명하는데 설명력이 높은 모델로 평가되어지고 있다(Hong & Kim, 2017; Vankatesh et al., 2003). 좀 더 구체적으로 살펴보면, 새로운 기술 수용에 있어 개인의 태도는 지각된 유용성(perceived usefulness)과 지각된 사용용이성(perceived ease of use)에 의해 결정된다고 보았다. 여기서 지각된 유용성은 특정 시스템을 사용을 통해 업무의 성과를 높일 수 있다고 믿는 정도로 정의되며, 지각된 사용용이성은 특정 시스템을 사용하는데 어렵지 않을 것이라는 믿음 정도로 정의된다(Davis, 1989).

한편, 사회심리학에서는 인간행동을 예측하기 위해 ‘태도-행동’을 기반으로 연구를 진행해왔으며, 대표적으로는 Fishbein & Ajzen(1975)의 합리적 행동이론이 있다. 하지만 개인의 행동을 예측하는데 있어 태도와 주관적 규범을 제안하고 있는 합리적 행동이론의 한계점 역시 나타났다. 가령, 행동을 수행함에 있어 태도와 주관적 규범이 긍정적이라 하더라도 그와 같은 행동을 수행할 시간, 자원, 기회의 한계가 존재하는 상황을 충분히 고려하지 못하고 있다는 것이다(Ajzen & Fishbein, 1980). 이에 Ajzen(1985)은 합리적 행동이론의 한계점을 보완하기 위해 지각된 행동통제 변수를 추가하여 계획된 행동이론(Theory of Planned Behavior: TPB)을 제시하였다(Casalo et al., 2010; East, 1993; Tagoe & Abakah, 2014). 계획된 행동이론은 특정 행동을 수행할 때 발생할 수 있는 결과에 대한 긍정적 또는 부정적 기대 신념인 행동에 대한 태도(attitude toward behavior)와 개인이 하고자 하는 행동에 대해 주변인들이 승인 혹은 비승인 하는지에 대한 신념으로 즉, 개인이 인식하는 사회적 압력을 뜻하는 주관적 규범(subjective norm), 그리고 개인이 처한 환경에 대한 신념으로 즉, 어떤 행동을 수행하는데 있어 수행기회나 필요한 자원의 보유 여부와 관련 있는 지각된 행동통제(perceived behavioral control)를 통해 행동의도를 설명한다.

지금까지 보고된 계획된 행동이론을 적용한 연구들을 살펴보면, Jin & Jang(2016)은 계획된 행동이론을 활용하여 소비자의 항공사 모바일 앱 이용의도에 관한 연구를 진행하였으며, Cho(2014)는 계획된 행동이론에 사전지식과 지각된 위험을 추가한 확장된 이론을 통한 소비자의 행동의도를 분석하였다. 또한 Kim & Cho(2017)는 싱글 여성의 해외여행 행동의도를 알아보기 위해 계획된 행동이론을 적용하여 연구를 진행하였으며, Lee(2016)는 계획된 행동이론을 활용하여 팟케스트 광고 효과에 관한 연구를 진행하였다.

앞서 두 이론을 통해 나타나듯이 두 이론 모두 새로운 기술에 대한 소비자의 수용의도를 예측하는데 있어 그 실질적 유효성이 다수의 연구자들을 통해 검증되어 왔지만 하나의 이론만 이용한 모델에 비해 두 이론을 결합한 모델이 더욱 높은 설명력을 이끌어 낼 수 있음이 보고되었다(Lee, 2013; Son et al., 2014). 또한 Hagger & Chatizisarantis(2005)에 의하면, 계획된 행동이론의 세 가지 요인만으로 개인의 의도와 행동의 변화를 충분히 설명하기에는 한계가 있음을 제시하였고, Ajzen(1991) 역시 계획된 행동이론의 기존 변수가 고려된 상태에서 행동의도나 실제행동에 대한 설명력을 높일 수 있다면 새로운 추가적인 변수를 고려할 수 있음을 보고한 바 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론을 통합한 모형을 통해 소비자들의 새로운 기술 수용의도를 검증하는데 무리가 없을 것이라 판단된다.

이를 지지하듯, Joo(2013)는 스마트폰 이용의도 예측모형 비교 연구를 통해 계획된 행동이론이 기술수용모델에 비해 소비자의 수용의도를 예측하는데 보다 높은 설명력을 나타냈고, 통합 모형은 계획된 행동이론보다 높은 설명력을 나타냈음을 보고하고였다. 또한 정보통신기술 분야 등의 수용의도를 예측하는데 있어 계획된 행동이론만으로 분석하는데 한계가 있음을 주장하는 연구들도 보고되었다(Blake & Kyper, 2013; Taylor & Todd, 1995). 더불어 Son et al.(2014)은 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론을 통합한 모델을 통해 개인의 정보기술 수용의도에 대한 설명력을 높이고자 하였으며, 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론을 결합하여 태블릿 PC 수용을 고찰한 연구를 진행하였다.

그리고 본 연구에서는 성별을 조절변수로 투입하여 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론을 통합한 모형에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 분석해보고자 한다. 성별은 최근 기술정보 분야에서 조절변수로 활용되어 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있으며, 특히 시장세분화에 있어 제품과 서비스의 중요한 비율을 결정하는 변수로 사용되어져왔다(Hwang, 2010; Park, 2011). 예컨대 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기와 같은 기술이 접목된 제품의 경우 남성과 여성의 제품 인식이 달라질 수 있을 것이라 판단된다. 비록 최근 스포츠 활동 참여와 스마트기기의 보급이 활발하게 이루어진 현 시점에서 기술 제품 수용에 대한 성별의 경계가 많이 허물어졌지만 남성은 제품에 대한 용이성과 유용성이 여성에 비해 높을 수 있을 것이며, 제품에 대한 태도 역시 여성과는 상이한 결과가 나타날 수 있음을 추측해 볼 수 있다. 만약 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용 모형 검증을 통해 성별에 따른 차이가 발생한다면, 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 제품을 생산 및 판매하는 기업에 포지셔닝 전략의 의미에서 구체적인 마케팅 자료를 제시할 수 있을 것이다.

따라서 본 연구에서는 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론을 적용하여 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용의도를 예측하는데 그 목적이 있다. 더불어 성별에 따른 조절효과 분석을 추가적으로 실시하여 국내 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 관련 기업의 시장정착에 있어 마케팅 시사점을 제공할 수 있다는데 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

연구가설의 근거

기술수용모델과 태도와의 관계

기술수용모델의 핵심변수인 지각된 사용용이성, 지각된 유용성과 태도 간의 관계는 선행연구들을 통해 이미 검증되어왔다(You & Park, 2009; Vankatesh et al., 2003). 가령, Jo & Cha(2017)는 배달 앱 품질에 대한 소비자의 태도와 행동의도를 예측하기 위해 기술수용모델을 적용하여 연구를 진행하여 지각된 사용용이성과 지각된 유용성이 태도에 긍정적 영향이 있음을 확인하였고, Park & Hyun(2013)은 스마트폰 어플리케이션 수용의도에 관한 연구를 진행한 결과, 지각된 사용용이성은 태도에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 더불어 Igbaria et al.(1995)은 지각된 유용성이 태도에 영향을 미친다고 보고하였으며, Chang & Youm(2017)은 웨어러블 디바이스에 대한 수용자 효과를 분석하는 연구에서 소비자의 지각된 유용성은 제품태도에 긍정적인 영향이 있음을 검증하였다.

  • 가설 1. 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기에 대한 지각된 사용용이성은 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이다.

  • 가설 2. 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기에 대한 지각된 유용성은 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이다.

태도, 주관적 규범, 지각된 행동통제와 수용의도와의 관계

계획된 행동이론은 합리적 행동이론을 기초로 발전하였으며(Ajzen, 1991), 소비자들의 행동의도 및 실제행동을 예측하는데 유용한 모델로 평가되어진다(Ajzen & Fishbein, 1980; Cho, 2014). 이에 다양한 분야에서 소비행동을 분석하기 위해 적용되어지고 있다. 예를 들면, Chiu et al.(2014)은 소비자들의 위조 스포츠용품 소비행동을 연구하기 위해 계획된 행동이론을 적용하여 연구를 진행하였다. 그 결과, 태도와 주관적 규범, 지각된 행동통제는 제품 구매의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. Yaghoubi & Bahmani(2010)는 계획된 행동이론 구성변수인 태도, 주관적 규범, 지각된 행동통제 모두 소비자의 온라인 뱅킹 서비스 이용행동을 설명하는 유의미한 변수라고 분석하였다. 또한 Oh(2009)는 인터넷 환경에서 디지털 콘텐츠의 충동구매에 영향을 미치는 요인을 살펴보고자 계획된 행동이론을 활용하여 연구를 진행하였다. 연구 결과, 태도, 주관적 규범, 지각된 행동통제는 충동구매의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 보고하였다. 더불어 You et al.(2007)은 계획된 행동이론을 통해 하이테크 제품에 대한 소비자 구매의도의 영향요인 연구를 진행하였으며, 추가적으로 한국소비자와 중국소비자 간 경로계수 간의 차이를 검증하는 연구를 진행하여 소비행동을 파악하는 연구를 진행하였다. 이러한 선행연구를 바탕으로 계획된 행동이론과 수용의도의 관계에 대한 가설을 다음과 같이 설정하였다.

  • 가설 3. 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기에 대한 태도는 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이다.

  • 가설 4. 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기에 대한 주관적 규범은 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이다.

  • 가설 5. 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기에 대한 지각된 행동통제는 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이다.

성별에 따른 계획된 행동이론 모형의 차이

기업이 표적 고객을 선택하고 이들의 욕구를 충족시키기 위해서는 전체시장을 일정한 기준에 따라 세분화하여 시장의 변화추이를 세밀하게 파악하고 소비자의 기대와 욕구에 부응하는 서비스를 개발하여 제공해야 한다( Lee et al., 2013; Sul, 1999). 한편 시장을 세분화하는데 있어 인구통계학적·지리적·심리묘사적·편익·시간적 등 다양한 변수로 세분화가 가능하지만 특히 인구통계학적특성을 통한 세분화 연구가 스포츠 마케팅 분야에서 활발하게 이루어지고 있다(Jang et al., 2015; Kim & Jun, 2009; Lee, 2014; Park, 2003). 인구통계학적특성을 세분화 변수로 사용하는 주된 이유는 측정과 적용이 용이할 뿐만 아니라 소비자의 구매행동과 밀접한 관계가 있기 때문이다(Kim et al., 2009). 그 중 성별은 전통적으로 마케팅 전략 수립단계에서 시장세분화의 가장 기본적인 변인이며(Nysveen et al., 2005), 소비자 행동을 구체적으로 설명해 줄 수 있다. 또한 사회적 동향을 예측하는데 도움을 줄 수 있기 때문에 마케팅 관리자들에게 그 중요성이 강조된다(An & Kim, 2011). 따라서 본 연구에서는 성별에 따른 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용모형의 차이를 규명하고자 하였다.

  • 가설 6. 소비자의 성별에 따라 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용모형은 차이가 있을 것이다.

연구모형

본 연구에서는 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용의도를 분석하기 위해 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론의 통합모형을 적용하였으며, 선행연구와 가설을 근거하여<Fig. 1>과 같은 연구모형을 구성하였다.

연구방법

연구대상

본 연구에서는 연구자가 직접 서울역에 방문하여 스포츠용품 구매 경험은 있지만 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기를 사용하지 않는 소비자들을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 서울역을 설문지역으로 설정한 이유는 유동인구 비율이 높으며, 다양한 연령층을 대상으로 설문이 가능하다는 장점이 있을 것이라 판단하였기 때문이다. 구체적인 표집방법은 비확률 표본추출(non-probability sampling method) 중 편의표본추출법(convenience sampling method)을 사용하였다. 설문조사를 시작하기에 앞서 설문을 실시하는 이유와 기본적인 설문방법을 대상자들에게 설명한 후 스마트시계, 스마트안경, 스마트밴드 등 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기의 이미지가 삽입된 설문지를 통해 조사를 진행하였으며<Fig. 2>, 설문조사는 자기평가기입법(self-administration)으로 이루어졌다. 총 360부의 설문지를 배포하여 모두 수거하였지만 응답이 불성실한 3부의 설문지를 제외한 357부의 설문지를 최종분석에 사용하였다. 이에 따른 인구통계학적특성은 다음의 <Table 1>과 같다.

본 연구에서는 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용의도를 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론 통합모형을 적용하여 분석하기 위해 조사도구로 설문지를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서 설정한 변수들은 선행연구를 토대로 재구성하였으며, 인구통계학적특성 4문항을 제외한 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론 변수는 5점 리커트(Likert) 척도로 제작하였다. 먼저, 기술수용모델에 대한 문항은 Koufaris(2002)의 연구에서 사용된 측정도구를 본 연구에 맞게 수정·보완하여 지각된 사용용이성 4문항, 지각된 유용성 4문항으로 구성하였다. 다음으로, 계획된 행동이론에 대한 문항은 George(2004)Lee & Tsai(2010), Liao et al.(2007)의 연구에서 사용된 측정도구를 본 연구에 맞게 재구성하여 태도 4문항, 주관적 규범 4문항, 지각된 행동통제 3문항으로 구성하였다. 마지막으로, 수용의도를 측정하기 위하여 Kim et al.(2015)의 연구에서 사용된 4문항을 재구성하여 사용하였다. 본 연구의 조사를 위한 측정도구의 구성내용은 다음의 <Table 2>과 같다.

조사도구의 타당도 및 신뢰도 검증

우선, 본 연구의 목적을 위해 제작된 설문지의 전반적인 내용 및 구성에 대한 검증을 위해 스포츠 경영·마케팅 전공 교수 1인과 박사학위 소지자 2인에게 내용타당도(content validity)를 검증받았다. 또한 본 연구의 구성타당도 검증을 위해 수렴타당도와 판별타당도 분석을 실시하여 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 먼저, 수렴타당도를 분석하기 위해 개념신뢰도(construct reliability: CR)값과 분산추출지수(average variance extracted: AVE)값이 Fornell & Lacker(1981)가 제시한 각각의 기준치인 .7과 .5을 모두 넘어 수렴타당도는 검증되었다. 더불어 분산추출지수 즉, AVE값(.635~.795) 중 가장 작은 값이 상관계수의 제곱값(.034~.635) 중 가장 큰 값보다 크게 나타나 판별타당성이 있는 것으로 확인되었다.

다음으로, 본 연구의 전체 확인적 요인분석 결과, χ 2=376.4 , df= 215, TLI= .967 , CFI= .972, RMSEA= .046으로 나타났다. Hong(2000)에 따르면, TLI와 CFI지수의 경우 .90이 넘고, RMSEA지수의 경우 .08보다 낮으면 양호한 적합도를 나타낸다고 보고하였다. 따라서 본 연구의 확인적 요인분석결과 선행연구에서 제시한 적합도 기준을 충족하는 것으로 나타났다.

마지막으로, 조사도구의 내적일관성(internal consistency) 신뢰도를 측정하기 위해 Cronbach’s α 계수를 분석한 결과, 신뢰도 값이 모두 .7 이상으로 나타나 조사도구의 신뢰성 역시 검증되었다(Van de Ven & Ferry, 1980). 이에 따른 구체적인 내용은 <Table 3>과 같다.

상관관계 분석

본 연구의 상관관계 분석결과는 <Table 4>와 같이 변인간의 상관계수가 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났으며, 상관계수가 모두 .80보다 낮게 나타나 다중공선성(multi-collinearity)에 문제없는 것으로 분석되었다.

먼저, 본 연구에서는 구조모형의 모수 추정 방법으로 최대우도법(maximum likelihood: ML)을 사용하였으며, 분석결과, χ 2= 483.3, df= 219, TLI= .947, CFI= .954, RMSEA= .058로 나타나 모형의 적합성이 검증되었다<Table 5>.

다음으로, 인과관계 검증을 통해 나타난 결과는 다음의 <Table 6>, <Fig. 3>와 같다. 가설 1의 검증결과, 표준화계수 값이 .218, t값이 4.752로 통계적 유의성이 검증되어 가설이 채택되었다. 가설 2의 검증결과, 표준화계수 값이 .647, t값이 11.821로 통계적 유의성이 검증되어 가설이 채택되었다. 가설 3의 검증결과, 표준화계수 값이 .659, t값이 11.349로 통계적 유의성이 검증되어 가설이 채택되었다. 가설 4의 검증결과, 표준화계수 값이 .259, t값이 5.156으로 통계적 유의성이 검증되어 가설이 채택되었다. 가설 5의 검증결과, 표준화계수 값이 .060, t값이 1.295로 통계적 유의성이 되지 않아 가설이 기각되었다.

성별에 따른 조절효과 분석

본 연구에서는 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론 통합모형에서 나타난 경로계수들 사이에서 성별에 따른 차이를 알아보기 위해 다집단 분석(multi-group analysis)을 실시하였다. 먼저, 다집단 분석을 실시하기에 앞서 성별 집단에서 기저모형의 적합성을 확인하기 위해 모형 간 형태 동일성(configural invariance)과 집단 간 측정변수가 동일한 잠재변수를 구인하는지 확인하기 위해 측정 동일성(metric invariance) 검증이 수행되어야 한다(Hong et al., 2003). 다음으로, 형태 및 측정 동일성 검증 후 경로계수의 동일화 제약은 집단 간 차이가 작은 계수부터 순차적으로 실시하여야 구조 동일성을 확인해야 한다.

한편 모형의 적합도를 평가하기 위해 chi-square 차이 값과 더불어 TLI, CFI, RMSEA값을 함께 고려하여 모형을 평가하였다(Browne & Cudeck, 1993; Hong, 2000; Kaplan, 1990). 이러한 이유는 구조방정식모형에서 적합도 지수는 표본의 크기에 민감하게 영향을 받지 않으며, 모형의 간명성을 고려하고 해석기준이 명확해야 좋은 적합도 지수로 고려될 수 있다. 즉, 모형의 TLI와 CFI 값이 .90, RMSEA 값이 .08 이하이면 모형의 적합도를 수용하는데 문제가 없다는 것이다(Hu & Bentler, 1999). 또한 chi-square 검증을 활용한 모형평가는 ‘추출된 요인이 측정변수 사이의 관계를 정확히 설명한다’는 영가설을 너무 쉽게 기각하는 경향과 chi-square 값이 표본에 따라 쉽게 영향을 받는다는 한계점이 있다(Kwag & Cho, 2015). 이러한 근거에 의해 chi-square 차이 값과 모형적합지수를 동시에 확인하여 최종선택모형을 결정하였다.

이에 따른 분석 결과는 다음의 <Table 7>, <Table8>과 같다. 우선 형태 동일성 검증결과, 남성 집단의 모형 적합도는 χ 2= 431.1, df= 219, TLI= .922, CFI= .932, RMSEA= .073으로 나타났으며, 여성 집단의 모형 적합도는 χ 2= 434.7, df= 219, TLI= .909, CFI= .922, RMSEA= .075로 나타났다. 기저모형은 χ 2= 865.8, df= 438, TLI= .916, CFI= .927, RMSEA= .052로 나타나 형태 동일성이 검증되었다. 다음으로, 측정 동일성 검증결과, 기저모형과 측정 동일성모형의 χ 2차이 값은 28.3이고 자유도의 차이 값은 17로 나타났다. 즉, χ 2= 894.1, df= 455, TLI= .917, CFI= .925, RMSEA= .052로 나타나 측정 동일성이 검증되었다. 다음으로, 구조 동일성 검증결과, 측정 동일성 모형과 구조 동일성모형(1)의 χ 2차이 값은 .1이고 자유도의 차이 값은 1로 나타났으며, 모형의 적합도는 TLI= .917, CFI= .925, RMSEA= .052로 나타났다. 구조 동일성모형(1)과 구조 동일성모형(2)의 χ 2차이 값은 0이고 자유도의 차이 값은 1로 나타났으며, 모형의 적합도는 TLI= .918, CFI= .926, RMSEA= .052로 나타났다. 구조 동일성모형(2)와 구조 동일성모형(3)의 χ 2차이 값은 1이고 자유도의 차이 값은 1로 나타났으며, 모형의 적합도는 TLI= .918, CFI= .926, RMSEA= .052로 나타났다. 구조 동일성모형(3)과 구조 동일성모형(4)의 χ 2차이 값은 7.8이고 자유도의 차이 값은 1로 나타났으며, 모형의 적합도는 TLI= .917, CFI= .924, RMSEA= .052로 나타나 구조 동일성(3)모형에 비해 χ 2값과 모형의 적합도 지수가 나빠져 구조 동일성모형(3)을 최종모형으로 채택하였다. 마지막으로, 구조 동일성 검증을 통해 경로계수 간 차이가 발생하는지 분석해 본 결과, <Table 8>과 같이 총 두 가지 경로에서 차이가 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 살펴보면, 태도와 수용의도의 경로에서 남성 집단이 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 주관적 규범과 수용의도의 경로에서는 여성 집단이 더 높은 것으로 분석되었다.

논의

본 연구에서는 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용의도를 예측하기 위해 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론을 통합한 모형을 적용하여 연구를 진행하였으며, 더불어 성별에 따른 수용모형의 차이를 실증적으로 규명해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 구조방정식모델을 통해 변인 간 인과관계를 분석하였으며, 성별에 따른 경로계수의 차이를 알아보기 위해 다집단 분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 분석결과를 기초로 논의를 하자면 다음과 같다.

지각된 사용용이성, 지각된 유용성과 태도와의 관계에 대한 논의

소비자들의 지각된 사용용이성과 지각된 유용성은 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 첫 번째 가설과 두 번째 가설은 채택되었다. 이는 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기의 조작과 사용이 어렵지 않다는 인식과 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기가 자신의 운동 활동이나 업무에 도움을 줄 것이라는 인식이 높을수록 기기에 대한 태도가 높아진다는 점을 의미하는 결과이다. Davis(1989)는 지각된 사용용이성과 지각된 유용성은 태도와 관련성이 있음을 주장하였고, Lee & Lee(2016)는 P2P 사용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐구하기 위해 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론을 통합한 모형을 검증한 연구를 진행한 결과, 지각된 사용용이성과 지각된 유용성 요인 모두 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 보고하였다. 또한 Han et al.(2014)은 혁신제품 수용에 관한 연구를 진행하여 지각된 유용성이 혁신제품 태도에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였으며, Jeong & Roh(2017)는 웨어러블 디바이스 상용의도를 분석하기 위해 수정된 기술수용모델을 적용하여 연구를 진행하여 지각된 사용용이성이 사용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 보고하였다.

따라서 관련 기업들은 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기의 이용방법과 사용절차가 용이하도록 기기 개발에 힘써야 할 것이며 기기를 사용하는데 어려움이 없도록 조작성을 높이고 이용자 중심의 환경을 고려한 전략을 구상해야 할 것이다. 또한 시중에 출시된 많은 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기들은 스마트폰 어플리케이션 연동을 통한 제품 구현이 이루어지고 있으므로 이용 절차 등이 복잡하지 않도록 관련 플랫폼의 품질 개선에 중점을 두어야 할 것이다. 또한 지속적인 프로그램 업데이트를 실시하고, 소비자들의 이용후기에서 나타나는 불편사항을 모니터링 하여 개선 할 수 있도록 노력해야 하며, 더불어 기기를 통해 일상생활 및 스포츠 활동에서 생산성과 효율성이 극대활 될 수 있도록 적극적인 투자를 통해 기기 기능을 향상시켜야 할 것이다. 한편 남성과 여성, 청년층과 중장년층 등 기기에 대해 모두 다른 방식으로 용이성 및 유용성 인식이 다르게 나타날 수 있으므로 소비자들의 의견을 적극적으로 수렴하고 소비자들의 특성을 파악하여 서비스를 제공한다면 기기에 대한 소비자들의 인식을 변화시킬 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.

태도, 주관적 규범, 지각된 행동통제와 수용의도와의 관계에 대한 논의

먼저, 소비자들의 태도는 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 세 번째 가설은 채택되었다. Joo(2013)는 키덜트(kidult) 제품 이용의도에 관한 연구를 진행한 결과, 태도는 이용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 보고하였으며, Kwag et al.(2014)은 스포츠 용품 온라인 구매의도 모형 검증에 관한 연구를 진행하였는데 연구결과, 소비자의 태도는 행동의도에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 태도는 소비자의 행동의도를 설명하는데 매우 중요한 변수임을 제시하였다. 또한 Sanayei & Bahmani(2012)의 연구에서는 인터넷 뱅킹 이용에 대한 긍정적인 태도는 이용의도에 정적인 영향을 미친다는 연구결과를 도출 하였으며, Chae et al.(2009)은 MP3-playing 의류와 생체신호 센싱 의류 수용의도에 관한 연구를 진행한 결과, 태도는 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 보고하였다. 이상의 선행연구들은 본 연구에서의 태도와 수용의도와의 관계에 대해 지지해주고 있다. 따라서 제품 관련기업들은 소비자들의 긍정적인 태도를 높일 수 있는 방안을 강구해야 할 것이다. 이를 위해 다음과 같이 제안해 보고자 한다.

첫 번째로, 웨어러블 기기의 경우 신체에 착용하여 제품의 기능실행 및 활용이 이루어지는 특징이 있다. 즉, 운동 및 일상에서 제품으로 인해 불편함이 발생한다면 소비자들에게 외면 받을 수밖에 없을 것이다. 이를 지지하듯, Shin & Lee(2016)는 웨어러블 기기의 불편성과 복잡성에 의해 소비자들의 혁신저항이 높아짐을 제시하였다. 따라서 관련 기업들은 기기의 편리함과 실용성을 높일 수 있는 방안을 강구하여 소비자들이 기기에 대한 긍정적인 태도가 형성될 수 있도록 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다. 두 번째로, 체험 이벤트를 통해 기기에 대한 태도를 높일 수 있을 것이다. 가령 온라인을 통해 이벤트를 실시하거나 마라톤과 같은 스포츠이벤트 참여자들을 대상으로 체험 이벤트를 실시하는 것도 방안이 될 수 있을 것이다.

다음으로, 소비자들의 주관적 규범은 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 네 번째 가설은 채택되었다. Meuter et al.(2003)은 시장정착이 이루어지 않은 기술제품의 경우 소비자들은 주변인들의 이용경험에 의존도가 높음을 제시하였다. Yim & Kim(2014)의 온라인 여행상품 구매의도에 관한 연구에서 소비자의 주관적 규범이 구매의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 온라인 여행상품 선택 시 주위의 추천 및 동의에 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 Lee et al.(2015)은 20~30대, 40~50대, 60대 이상을 구분하여 스마트폰 SNS 기반 금융거래 애플리케이션 수용의도에 관한 연구를 진행하였는데 모든 연령층에서 금융거래 애플리케이션에 대한 주관적 규범은 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 더불어 Courtois et al.(2014)은 태블릿 PC 수용에 관한 연구를 진행한 결과, 주관적 규범은 태블릿 PC 사용 및 사용의도에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤음을 보고하였다. 이처럼 선행연구를 통해 나타나듯이 주관적 규범 변수는 소비자들의 수용의도를 설명하는데 중요한 변수임이 확인되었다. 따라서 관련 기업들은 조기 구매자들을 통한 홍보 전략을 구상해 볼 수 있을 것이다. 가령 친구추천 혹은 개인 SNS에 제품 후기를 작성한 조기 구매자들에게 적립금, 1+1, 할인 쿠폰을 제공하는 이벤트를 진행한다면 제품 홍보 효과를 극대화 할 수 있을 것이다.

마지막으로, 소비자들의 지각된 행동통제는 수용의도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타나 다섯 번째 가설은 기각되었다. 지금까지 다양한 분야에서 지각된 행동통제가 의도에 영향을 미친다고 보고되었지만(Blake & Kyper, 2013; George, 2002; Hong et al., 2016; Lee & Lee, 2016; Yim & Kim, 2014; Yim & Kim, 2016), 본 연구에서는 이와는 상이한 연구결과가 나타났다. 이에 따른 본 연구의 결과에 대한 논의를 다음과 같이 해보고자 한다.

스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기의 경우 타 제품에 비해 높은 기술이 요구되며, 시장정착 역시 이루어지지 않아 시장의 불확실성을 내포하고 있다. 무엇보다 과거에 없던 제품이기에 소비자들은 기술적인 면에서 불확실성을 가질 수 있을 것이다. 또한 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기는 첨단 기능이 탑재되어 있는 만큼 시장 성장세는 예상되나 시장 초기인 관계로 일반적인 스포츠 용품에 비해 다소 높은 가격이 형성되어 있다. 이에 소비자들은 웨어러블 스마트기기가 운동효과를 높여준다는 인식과 더불어 기기를 구입할 수 있는 의지나 여건 그리고 충분한 자원이 있다고 하더라도 높은 가격의 비용을 지불하고 구입한 제품이 자신이 원하는 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있을지에 대한 의구심을 품을 수 있을 것이다. 이를 지지하듯, Porter & Donthu(2006)는 기술수용에 있어 비용의 부담을 접근장애(access barrier)의 개념으로 인식하고 비용에 대한 부담이 크면 제품에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 가지고 있다하더라도 수용의도에 영향을 미치지 않을 수 있음을 제시한 바 있다. 따라서 관련 기업들은 소비자들은 인식할 수 있는 기기의 불확실성을 줄이기 위한 노력이 요구되며, 다양한 가격정책을 수립하여 소비자들에게 제공할 필요가 있을 것이다.

성별에 따른 조절효과 분석에 관한 논의

연구모형에서 성별에 따라 경로계수 사이에 어떠한 차이가 나타나는지 동일화 제약을 통한 다집단 분석을 실시한 결과, 태도와 수용의도, 주관적 규범과 수용의도 사이의 경로에서 차이가 나타났다. 구체적으로 태도와 수용의도의 경로에서 남성 집단이 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 주관적 규범과 수용의도의 경로에서는 여성 집단이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 남성은 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트 기기와 같은 기술제품에 대해 더욱 긍정적이고 수용의도가 높은 것을 확인하였으며, 여성은 제품을 수용하는데 있어 주변인들에 의해 제품을 구입하려는 의도가 높음을 의미하는 결과이다. 본 연구에서 나타난 결과에 따른 논의를 선행연구에 근거하여 살펴보면, Venkatesh & Morris(2000)는 남성이 여성에 비해 새로운 기술에 대한 수용이 빠르고 쉽게 적응한다고 하였으며, An & Kim(2009)은 남성이 여성보다 신기술 사용을 더욱 쉽다고 인식하는 반면 여성의 경우 기술제품 수용에 있어 주변인들의 영향을 나타내는 주관적 규범이 높음을 보고 하였다. 또한 Eagly & Carli(1981)는 여성은 남성에 비해 타인의 의견이나 충고에 의존도가 높다고 하였다. 따라서 관련 기업들은 남성과 여성이 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기를 인식하는데 차이가 있음을 간과해서는 안 될 것이다. 즉, 제품을 개발하고 홍보하는데 있어 차별성을 두어야 할 것이다. 가령 남성을 위해서는 기술적인 측면을 강조하여 남성의 도전정신을 높일 수 있는 방안을 마련하고 여성 소비자들을 위해서는 구전마케팅이 이루어질 수 있도록 적극적인 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다.

결론 및 제언

결론

본 연구의 목적은 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동이론 통합모형을 적용하여 소비자들의 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 수용의도를 예측하는데 그 목적이 있다. 총 357부의 설문지를 최종분석에 사용하여 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다.

첫째, 소비자들의 지각된 사용용이성과 지각된 유용성은 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 관련 기업들은 기기의 사용이 용이하도록 조작성을 높이고 불필요한 기능을 최소화하여야 하며, 또한 일상 및 운동 활동 과정에서 원하는 성과가 나타날 수 있다는 인식을 가질 수 있도록 적극적인 홍보활동을 전개해나갈 필요성이 있을 것이다.

둘째, 소비자들의 태도는 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 관련기업들은 소비자들의 긍정적인 태도를 높일 수 있는 방안을 강구해야 할 것이다. 예컨대 제품의 편리성 및 실용성에 중점을 두어 제품 개발 및 홍보해야 할 것이다. 또한 다양한 체험 이벤트를 실시하여 소비자들의 태도를 높일 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다.

셋째, 소비자들의 주관적 규범은 수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 주관적 규범 변수는 소비자들의 수용의도를 설명하는데 중요한 변수임이 확인되었다. 따라서 관련 기업들은 조기 구매자들을 통해 주변인들에게 홍보할 수 있도록 다양한 이벤트를 진행한다면 제품 홍보 및 잠재 고객 유치가 가능할 것이다.

넷째, 소비자들의 지각된 행동통제는 수용의도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기가 시장정착을 확실히 이루어지지 않아 제품에 대한 소비자들의 불확실성이 작용하였음을 판단해본다. 또한 타 제품에 비해 제품의 가격이 다소 높은 가격이 측정되어 소비자들의 제품 구매에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 따라서 관련기업들은 소비자들이 인식할 수 있는 제품의 불확실성을 줄이기 위한 노력이 요구되며, 다양한 가격정책을 수립하여 소비자들에게 제공할 필요가 있을 것이다.

다섯째, 성별에 따른 경로계수 간 차이를 알아보기 위해 다집단 분석을 실시한 결과, 태도와 수용의도의 경로에서 남성 집단이 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 주관적 규범과 수용의도의 경로에서는 여성 집단이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 관련 기업들은 남성과 여성의 기기에 대한 인식이 다를 수 있으므로 남성과 여성의 특성을 파악하여 제품을 개발하고 홍보하는데 있어 차별성을 두어야 할 것이다.

연구의 한계점 및 후속연구를 위한 제언

본 연구를 수행하는 과정에서 다소 부족한 제한점이 발견되어 이를 보완하기 위한 제언을 다음과 같이 해보고자 한다.

첫째, 본 연구에서는 경로 간 차이를 분석하기 위해 성별을 조절변수로 활용하였지만 후속연구에서는 다양한 인구통계학적 특성(운동참여 빈도 등)과 라이프스타일, 관여도 등을 고려하여 분석을 실시한다면 더욱 의미 있는 연구결과를 도출 할 수 있을 것이라 사료된다.

둘째, 본 연구에서는 특정 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기를 설정하지 않고 연구를 진행하였다. 후속 연구에서는 스마트 밴드, 스마트 워치 등 각각의 특정 기기를 설정하여 연구를 진행한다면 개별 기기에 따른 좀 더 구체적인 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.

셋째, 본 연구에서는 기술수용모델과 계획된 행동 모형을 적용하여 소비자들의 수용의도를 예측하고자 하였다. 후속연구에서는 개인의 특성요인(혁신성, 자기효능감 등)을 추가하여 연구모형을 확장한다면 소비자들의 수용의도를 이해하는데 크게 기여할 것이다.

넷째, 본 연구에서는 연구대상자를 20~50대로 설정하여 연구를 진행하였지만 여전히 중·장년층의 표본이 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 후속연구에서는 중·장년층의 표본을 더욱 확보하여 연구를 진행한다면 스포츠 웨어러블 스마트기기 시장에 다양한 마케팅 전략을 제시할 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.
