PURPOSE This study theoretically explains the relationship between Keirin players’ core competencies and their performances. It also analyzes the impact of interaction between objectively identifiable core competencies and players’ efficiency toward their results, that is, the ability to convert their resources into performance. METHODS Using Python 3.11.1, 20,185 race records were collected of cyclists who competed at Gwangmyeong Velodrome in 2022 and 2023, and player efficiency was estimated using the R 4.3.1 package. Subsequently, the impact of players’ physical abilities (200 m records) on performance and player efficiency’s influence on the relationship between physical ability and performance were analyzed using Model 1 of PROCESS 4.1 Macro installed in SPSS 26.0. RESULTS First, players’ physical ability had a statistically significant impact on their performance. Specifically, the 200 m record significantly influenced the likelihood of finishing in the top 1 (coef = –.68 , p<.01 ), top 2 (coef = –.56, p<.01), and top 3 (coef = –.46, p<.01). Second, player efficiency moderated the relationship between players’ 200 m record and the likelihood of finishing within the top ranks. Specifically, the interaction term’s influence was empirically demonstrated between 200 m records and player efficiency on the likelihood of finishing within the top 1 (coef = –.47, p<.05), top 2 (coef = –.28, p<.05), and top 3 (coef = –.28, p<.05) for players with similar speeds, in that it significantly increased. CONCLUSIONS This study pioneers research that explains the relationship between players’ key competencies and performance based on resource-based theory, and it empirically demonstrates that player efficiency serves as a moderating variable in the relationship between key competencies and performance.
PURPOSE This study seeks to explore the subjectivity regarding leisure constraints perceived by college student-athletes. METHODS Based on Q methodology as an analysis framework, 25 Q-samples and 25 P-samples suitable for the research purpose were selected, and Q-classification and Q-factor analysis were conducted. RESULTS The leisure constraints were categorized into “Type Ⅰ: Psychological constraints,” “Type Ⅱ: Financial constraints,” and “Type Ⅲ: Spatio-temporal constraints.” The three types provided discussions on “strong athlete identity of student-athletes,” “role conflict between students and athletes,” “core competencies of student-athletes,” “current student-athlete support project,” and “school sports camp training.” CONCLUSIONS College student-athletes’ leisure constraints are closely related to strong athlete identity, anxiety about enjoying leisure, cost burden, and closedness of camp training, and each type provided new perspectives on discussions related to Korean student-athletes.
Purpose This research aims to find out factors affecting policy at the agenda setting phrase. In order to analyze, Multiple Streams Framework(MSF) was adopted. Based on the frame, policy problem stream, policy alternative stream, political stream, window of policy change, and policy entrepreneur were applied for analytical framework. Methods The research conducted qualitative research with triangulation. Data were collected by in-depth interview and literature review including newspaper and previous researches. Content analysis was done for deriving factors. Then categorization and itemization were conducted. Results For the result, factors derived from the study were not different from factions mentioning at MSF. For policy problem stream perspective, this study draw International Sports Event Result, Hosting International Sports Event, Elite Sports Athletic Recruiting, Athletic and Sports Category Supporting System, Student Study Right/Student Human Right/Sports Academy, Policy Reality, Sport Expert/Institute Capability, Perception of Elite Sport Origin. factors. In the case of Policy Alternative Stream, This study finds Sports Related Administrative Organization Restructure, Supporting Policy of Elite Athletic Promoting Restructure, Parent Policy of Elite Athletic Promoting Policy, Parent Institution of Elite Athletic Promoting Law, Incentive Institution for Elite Athletic, Supporting Institution for Elite Athletic, Value of Policy Community for Sports Category Feature, Value of Policy Community for Sports Category Fairness, Budget, International Sports Event Hosting Policy factors. Lastly, in the political perspective, this study figures out Elite Sports for Nation Integration, Elite Sports for Enhancing National Prestige (North and South Replacement), Elite Sports for Inter Korean Reconciliation and Cooperation, Sports Related Administrative Organization Restructure Following Regime Change, Parent Policy Change of Elite Sports Following Regime Change factors. Conclusions The research has academic implication for generating elite sport policy agenda setting model as well as practical implication for urging effective participation of various practitioners concerning elite sport.
