Abstract

PURPOSE Through analysis, this study reports on occurrences of children and adolescents’ sports accidents and presents measures to prevent, cope with, and manage school sports accidents. METHODS The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods. First, a frequency analysis was conducted using 284,429 safety accident data of the School Safety and Insurance Association (SSIA). Second, the inductive analysis method was applied to in-depth interviews conducted with eight teachers. RESULTS , accidents are characterized as follows: 1) At the school level, accidents have increased significantly every year in a large proportion of elementary and middle schools. 2) The span of time spent on sports was large. 3) Accidents happened at playgrounds and auxiliary facilities. 4) Accidents happened during kindergarten play and ball sports in schools. 5) The descending order of days with the most accidents was Thursday, Tuesday, Friday, Wednesday, Monday, Saturday, and Sunday. 6) Rather than a certain month, accidents happened across the school semester. 7) Most accidents occurred from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Second, field teachers’ stories were categorized into the following topics. 1) School accidents can occur anytime, anywhere. Whether mild or serious, they still had the burden of inevitable accidents. 2) Required: were prompt response and handling by appropriate teachers; timely treatment and recovery cost support; also procedurally simplified handling by SSIA was helpful. 3) Avoiding accidents requires the following:: regular operation of safety education programs; daily promotion of teachers’ preventive observation and close guidance; and active role reinforcement of SSIA and policy support. CONCLUSIONS Finally, measures to prevent, cope with, and manage school safety accidents were proposed.

Abstract

This study has analyzed 33 domestic games and 26 overseas games by targeting women curling teams of home and abroad, and looked into what main performance variables are, how level differences of domestic team appear, and from which variables differences between winning team and defeated team come out in overseas teams. Also, main strategies has been suggested that are used most commonly for kick-off offense and latter offense, blank strategy in order to prepare countermeasures, and digital media DB has been constructed that can utilize proper countermeasures easily and simply, and a model has been proposed for predicting victory/defeat. To accomplish such goal, a variance analysis has been carried out by dividing domestic teams into each level after calculating frequency and ratio with SPSS18.0, and t-test analysis has been carried out by overseas teams. Also, the accuracy of victory/defeat classifications has been suggested by using an artificial neural networks method. As a result, a lot of technical proficiency differences have appeared among Class A(upper rank), Class B(middle rank), and Class C(lower rank) in domestic teams. The ‘Guard’ which is an aggressive variable has turned out to be used more in upper and middle teams than in lower team, and the ‘Tab Back’ has been used more in upper rank than in lower rank. Furthermore, regarding the average comparison on victory/defeat in international games, victory teams have more significant difference(p<.05) than defeated teams in accuracy of shot techniques and strategy accomplishing abilities, and victory teams have been turned out to use less ‘Drew’ and more ‘Take’ than defeated teams significantly in Drew and Take’ technique variable. Finally, the accuracy of a prediction model has been 91.7% for learning and 92.9% for the test result to predict the victory/defeat in international games through the artificial neutral network analysis. The prediction accuracy of domestic games was 81.0% for learning and 71.4% for the test.

Abstract

Purpose This study reviewed the seriousness of the Match-fixing through the mixed research methods of the big data analysis (quantitative) and the focus group interview (qualitative) using the keyword, ‘Match-fixing’ and discusses the cautious and comprehensive basic direction for coping with negative issues and preventing recurrence. Methods For the quantitative research method, Naver and Daum were used as the analysis channel and the main keywords selected for the data search were ‘Match-fixing’ and ‘Match-fixing+(measures/eradication/solution)’. The data collection period was limited from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2016. In addition, for the qualitative research method, 6 homogeneous groups (experience, interest, knowledge) related to the research topic were constructed and interviewed using purposive(intentional) sampling. Results First, five factors (emotion, participant, cause, punishment, countermeasure) were categorized by big data analysis. Second, through Focus Croup interview, additional keywords for three factors (emotion, participant, countermeasure) were derived. Conclusions Therefore, it is required that various preventive measures such as emotional reward for negative emotion, preventive and ethical education, advancement of sports, establishment of Match fixing committee, Expert training are needed.

Abstract

Purpose The purpose of this study is to analyze issues of sexual violence case in sports field reported in the press by using spline function model and text mining. In specific, spline function model is used to measure social interest level based on issue attention cycle theory and figure out the flow of issues by applying text mining. Methods Study material is 2,660 news articles reported from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019 and press DB(Big Kinds) of Korea Press Foundation is used to collect study material. Results Social interest level on sexual violence case in sports field is dramatically increased due to disclosure of Sim player starting from Me Too movement started from the culture and art world. Because of this, as structural problem in sports field arises, social interest level comes to a climax, and then it was founded that the government’s countermeasures establishment and special audits by the Ministry of Education were in progress. From the perspective of the issue attention cycle, it has the stages of latent-occurrence-rising-decision-decay-disappearance, but the period from rising to declining is short, so it corresponds to a breaking issue attention cycle. Conclusion This study examines the progress of sexual violence case in sports field from rising to disappearance in the perspective of the issue attention cycle. With this incident, the world of sports is establishing sports ethics center and proceeding policies such as Basic Sports Act, and the future studies need to review the effectiveness of this policy.
