Abstract

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to identify research trend regarding pro-sports and visualize keyword network by using semantic network analysis. [Methods] After searching researches about pro-sports from 1994 to 2016, total 686 researches selected. In this process, inappropriate researches were excluded by 2 researchers’ consensus. [Results] First, the distribution of the number of researches were arranged on pro-baseball, pro-football, pro-basketball, and pro-volleyball in that order. Second, fan, team, and athletes were main research subject. Third, quantitative researches were dramatically more than qualitative researches and mixed method researches. Forth, the proportion of co-working have increased with the course of time. Fifth, the number of keyword which are appeared in researches has increased with the course of time, it dramatically was increased at 2010. [Conclusion] Through these results, researches regarding pro-sports have been broaden with the course of time and interdisciplinary convergence researches with adjacent fields were performed. However, some keyboards were repeated and academic interest about rare keywords was decreased with the course of time. Therefore, scholars in sports field need to have a inquiring stance about novel variables and phenomenons

Abstract

Purpose This study was aimed at laying out criticism regarding statistical hypothesis testing and presenting realistic alternatives focused on published studies of sports management in Korea. Methods Among 202 studies compiled by the Korean Society for Sport Management, vol. 19, no. 1 through vol. 23, no. 6, 115 studies which used the null hypothesis significant testing were finally selected. After data coding for selected studies, p-curve, the distribution of p-values which reported in individual studies, was schematized, and than adequacy about the sampling method and result descriptions were analyzed. Results The ratio of p-values close to zero was relatively very high in p-curve although there was no clear evidence of p-hacking. Also, approximately 82% of the studies used convenience sampling method, and incorrect descriptions in part of result and discussion due to lack of understanding of statistical hypothesis testing was found in some studies. In conclusion, the shortcomings of statistical hypothesis testing which commonly used in academic field were depended on not a defect in the method itself but researchers who misused statistical hypothesis testing. Conclusions Researchers in sport management field need to understand the advantages and disadvantages of statistical hypothesis testing and consider to use both confidence interval and effect sizes to compensate the disadvantages of p-value.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of employee’s job burnout on turnover intention and to draw average effect size(weighted averaged fisher’s z) in sports industry. After a lot of dissertations and journal articles were extracted by searching web sites, 11 papers were finally selected through thorough verification procedure. Specific analyses were conducted via MIX 2.0(Meta-analysis with Interactive eXplanations). The results were as follows. First of all, the weighted average correlation coefficient of between depersonalization and turnover intention was .326. Secondly, the weighted average correlation coefficient of between reduced personal accomplishment and turnover intention was .192. Lastly, the weighted average correlation coefficient of between emotional exhaustion and turnover intention was .326.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of congruence type between sporting event and corporate sponsor as well as the effects of advertisement exposure frequencies (1, 3 or 5 times) on advertisement attitude and advertisement effectiveness, including brand attitude and advertisement wear-in and wear-out effects. Data (N=150) were collected using a convenience sampling method and 3-group random assignment. The collected data were analyzed by means of frequency analysis, reliability analysis based on factor rho coefficient, correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA, confirmatory factor analysis, and latent mean analysis. The results were as follows; firstly, in case of higher functional congruence condition, advertisement attitude was most positive in a 3-time exposure situation and it decreased as advertisement exposure frequency further increased. However, in the lower functional congruence situation, advertisement attitude was continuously decreased as advertisement exposure frequencies increased. Secondly, in the higher image similarity situation, advertisement attitude was increased as advertisement exposure frequencies increased. On the other hand, in the lower image congruence situation, advertisement attitude was decreased as advertisement exposure frequencies increased. Lastly, advertisement attitude, brand attitude, and wear-in effects were statistically higher in the high functional and image congruence situations than did in the low functional and image congruence situations.
