101 Serial Multiple Mediating Effects of Motivational Climate, Competence, and Effort on the Relationship between Coaching Behavior and Failure Tolerance Perceived by Sports High School Athletes

Abstract

PURPOSE This study analyzed the relationship among coaching behaviors, motivational climate, sports competence, effort, and failure tolerance as perceived by high school athletes. Additionally, it examined whether motivational climate, competence, and effort mediate the relationship between coaching behaviors and failure tolerance. METHODS Using questionnaires measuring autonomy-supportive coaching behavior, controlling coaching behavior, motivational climate, sports competence, effort, and failure tolerance, 365 high school athletes were surveyed. Using SPSS 28.0 and Amos 28.0 software, descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling were conducted along with the following types of analyses: reliability, correlation, confirmatory factor, convergent validity, and discriminant. Additionally, the bootstrap method was used to verify serial multiple mediating effects. RESULTS Autonomy-supportive behavior had a significant positive effect 1) on motivational climate, sports competence, and effort and 2) on failure tolerance. 3) Controlling coaching behavior had a significant negative effect on motivational climate and sports competence. 4) Motivational climate and 5) sports competence both had a significant positive effect on effort. 6) Effort had a significant positive effect on failure tolerance. Last, in the relationship between autonomy-supportive behavior and failure tolerance, motivational climate, sports competence, and effort showed partial mediating effects. CONCLUSIONS This study confirms the importance of coaches’ autonomy-supportive behavior in determining failure tolerance among adolescent athletes. Based on this information, counseling (educational) programs aimed at enhancing performance can be developed and provided in sports settings, thus fostering success among athletes.

Abstract

Purpose The aim of this study was to examine how middles school students in physical education class perceived relations between parental and teacher’s autonomy support, enjoyment, self-efficacy, academic effort, and P · E class flow. This study also investigate the mediating effects of enjoyment, self-efficacy, and academic effort on the relations between parental autonomy support and P · E class flow and between teacher’s autonomy support and P · E class flow. Methods For this study, 323 middle school students completed surveys to measure their perceptions of parental and teacher’s autonomy support, enjoyment, self-efficacy, academic effort, and P · E class flow. SPSS 24.0 was used to calculate descriptive statistics, reliability, and correlations. Amos 22.0 was utilized for confirmatory factor analysis, convergent validity, discriminant validity, and structural equation modeling. Additionally, 2000 bootstrap samples were requested for the mediation effect analysis. Results First, parental autonomy support was positively predictive of enjoyment and self-efficacy. Second, teacher’s autonomy support positively influenced enjoyment and self-efficacy. Third, enjoyment and self-efficacy positively affected academic effort. Forth, academic effort was positively related to P · E class flow. Fifth, there were partial mediating effects of enjoyment, self-efficacy, and academic effort on the relationship between parental autonomy support and P · E class flow. Lastly, there were partial mediating effects of enjoyment, self-efficacy, and academic effort on the relationship between teacher’s autonomy support and P · E class flow. Conclusions The study found that teachers' autonomy support was stronger predictive of student’s P · E class flow in physical education class than parent's autonomy support was. The finding is meaningful in that it is worth providing and utilizing practical knowledge from an educational perspective.

Abstract

Purpose The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of coaches’ emotional leadership on athletic satisfaction and to investigate mediating effect of intrinsic motivation perceived by professional female basketball athletes in Korea and Japan. Methods 154 professional female basketball athletes in Korea and Japan participated in this study and responded to questionnaires which consisted of coaches’ emotional leadership, intrinsic motivation, and athletic satisfaction. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, and structure equation analysis with using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. Results The results of this study were as follows; Firstly, coaches’ emotional leadership had positive effect on athletic satisfaction. Secondly, coaches’ emotional leadership had positive influence on intrinsic motivation. Thirdly, intrinsic motivation had positively affect on athletic satisfaction. Lastly, intrinsic motivation completely mediated the relationship between coaches’ emotional leadership and athletic satisfaction. Conclusion In conclusion, these findings imply that coaches’ emotional leadership and intrinsic motivation are critical factors for improving athletic satisfaction.

Abstract

Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the factor that influence the using behavior of online sport media by university students applying Unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2(UTAUT 2). Methods The study performed a research survey using convenient sampling method. The sample was 235 university students who had experience with online sport media. The data were analyzed through frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation model using SPSS Windows ver . 20.0 and AMOS 20.0. Results The results showed that, firstly, performance expectancy and effort expectancy had a positive effect on intention to use, however, no significant influence on social effect on intention to use. Secondly, facilitating condition had positive effect on usage behavior. Thirdly, hedonic motivation had positive effect on intention to use. Fourthly, Habit had positive effect on the intention to use and usage behavior. Lastly, intention to use had positive effect on usage behavior. Conclusion Based on the conclusion of this study, online sports media companies should provide useful and convenient viewing experience by providing personalized services, and should apply various attraction strategies to habitually use sports online media.

Abstract

PURPOSE This study aimed to explore the structural relationships between technology-related factors and the intention to use baseball data, drawing upon the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and technology readiness (TR). METHODS Survey data from 203 Korean professional baseball players were used in frequency, reliability, correlation, and confirmatory factor analyses as well as structural equation modeling. RESULTS Positive TR positively influenced performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and conditions facilitating baseball data use. Negative TR did not significantly impact performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and conditions facilitating baseball data use. Performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and facilitating conditions were found to positively influence data use intention, while social influence did not significantly impact data use intention. CONCLUSIONS The findings suggest that increasing performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and facilitating condition factors could be key to enhancing the intention to utilize baseball data.


106 A Study on the Prospects and Development of the Golf Apparel Rental Market Using Big Data Analysis

Abstract

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to understand the current market trend for golf apparel rental services and to present basic data to revitalize the golf apparel rental service market and prepare continuous growth plans. METHODS The following keywords were selected for data collection: "golf wear + rental (렌탈)," "golf wear + rental (대여)," "golf apparel + rental (렌탈)," and "golf apparel + rental (대여).“ The analysis period was limited to two years and seven months from January 1, 2020 to July 31, 2022, when COVID-19 began. The analysis was focused on the top 60 keywords to simplify the network. RESULTS Various keywords were extracted through text mining, TF-IDF, connection centrality, emotional analysis, and semantic network analysis of big data analysis. These were then categorized into four factors: “golf apparel rental service,” “self-expression and authentication,” “sharing economy,” and “emotion.” CONCLUSIONS The results of this study show that young golfers are unreluctant and are generally positive in renting golf apparel. Therefore, if the growing paradigm of the consumption behavior of MZ-generation golfers is recognized and analyzed and the requirements are continuously satisfied through various strategies, there will be a higher possibility to help expand the golf apparel rental market.

Abstract

Purpose The current study was aimed to examine acceptance intention of sports wearable smart device using the Technology Acceptance Model and Theory of Planned Behavior. Methods Data were drawn from 357 consumers who had experience purchasing sports products. Data were analyzed through frequency analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 program. Results First, perceived ease of use had a positive effect on attitude. Second, perceived usefulness had a positive effect on attitude. Third, attitude had a positive effect on acceptance intention. Fourth, subjective norm had a positive effect on acceptance intention. Fifth, perceived behavioral control did not affect acceptance intention. Sixth, differences of path coefficients between attitude and acceptance intention, subjective norm and acceptance intention were significant according to gender. Conclusion The significance of this research is to provide the basis of positioning strategy for domestic companies of sports wearable smart device.


108 A Study on Relation Between Physical Environment, Customers' Emotions, Switching Barriers and Loyalty of the Water Ski Resort

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between physical environment, customers' emotions, switching barriers and loyalty among water ski resort users in Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do province. Convenience sampling method was used, 277 of the questionnaires were selected as the ultimately valid sample. Data were analysed by SPSSWIN 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 program using frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA) structural equation model(SEM). The research findings are as follows. First, relations between physical environment and customers' emotions, attractiveness, cleanliness, convenience and human service had a significant positively impact on positive emotional response. convenience, attractiveness, human service, and cleanliness had a significant negatively impact on negative emotional response. Second, relations between customers' emotions and switching Barriers, positive emotional response did not have a significant impact on switching cost and interpersonal relationship, but positive emotional response had a significant impact on attractiveness of alternatives. negative emotional response had a significant impact on switching cost, interpersonal relationship and attractiveness of alternatives Third, relations between switching barriers and loyalty, switching cost did not have a significant impact on loyalty. but interpersonal relationship and attractiveness of alternatives had a significant impact on loyalty.


109 Predicting Behavior Intentions of Online Sports Products Consumer Based on Extended Goal-directed Behavior Model

Abstract

The current study aimed to examine behavioral intentions of online sports products consumers using the Extended Goal-directed Behavior Model. The questionnaires were distributed to consumers who had experience of purchasing sports products online. Data collected from 282 respondents were analyzed mainly using structural equation modeling. The results were as follows: First, attitude and subjective norm had a positive effect on desire. Second, perceived behavior control did not affect desire but had a positive effect on behavior intention. Third, positive anticipated emotions had a positive effect on desire and negative anticipated emotions had a negative effect on desire. Fourth, prior knowledge did not affect desire and behavior intention. Fifth, frequency of past purchase behavior did not affect desire, but had a positive effect on behavior intention. Lastly, desire had a positive effect on behavior intention.


110 Development of Questionnaire in Sports Character of middle school students and analysis of the Level

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the level and difference of sport personalitys of middle school students depending on their quality of sport participation. According to prior research(박정준, 2012; Beller & Stoll, 1996), we decided that faithfulness, cooperation, justice and consideration are the sub-components of sport personalities. The reliability and validity of the Sport Personality Index Questionnaire was verified through Cronbach's α test and confirmatory factor analysis. The survey was conducted from students (n=768) in an urban area of Seoul, thereby level and differences of sport personality were analysed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, and frequency analysis. As a result, male students had higher sport personalitys than female, with regard to the participants'grade, frequency and duration of sports involvement. Disparities of gender and grade were revealed due to the frequency and duration of their sports participation. Regarding the effectiveness of sports activities, school-directed sports activities such as the after school sports programs or mandatory sports club activities had barely influenced building sport personality. In order to build students'sports personalities, specific strategies are sorely needed to increase girl's participation and to enlarge opportunity for regular and consistent participation of middle school students. Moreover, in order to develop participants'sport personality within school-directed sports activities, those programs'development and implementation should be deliberately approached with pedagogical intention and organization.
